a little party fit for an ice princess

I was thrilled when Clare contacted me to plan her daughter’s birthday celebration. Little Pippa turned three in September, and her favourite movie is none other than Frozen! We all know the movie well, but did you know it’s inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Snow Queen? For those of you who haven’t had the great pleasure of watching the film a few hundred times, it tells the story of a fearless princess who sets off on a journey alongside a rugged iceman, his loyal pet reindeer, and a naïve snowman to find her estranged sister, whose icy powers have inadvertently trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.

Pippa’s third birthday was the perfect occasion to go all out and create a magical frosted wonderland to celebrate! I was absolutely delighted I was given the opportunity to plan and style a frozen-inspired party. I wanted to capture the movie in all elements of the party. I knew I needed to create something truely magical, a royal event, incorporating icy elements, within the Kingdom of Arendelle. My heart was set on shimmery snowflakes and a bit of Olaf fun!

I like to use my imagination and put extra effort into decorating a table. On this occasion, I chose a palette of three different colours, blue, white and silver as inspired by the movie. The table was set with white and silver square paper plates. The wooden cutlery was set in blue napkins, and tied in twine. Every silver cup featured a blue sticker, with the number three and white snowflakes, topped with a silver and white paper straw. The water bottles were given a coordinated label highlighting a birthday message especially for Pippa. The centrepiece were white lanterns, with flickering tea lights, mini ice trees and cute mini signs featuring a silver castle inspired by the castle from the Kingdom of Arendelle. Each place setting had a white sparkly tiara for each little party guest.

Designing event stationery is one of my most favourite parts to party planning. I simply love stationery and believe if you choose well, it can really create the WOW-factor! I had the great pleasure of working with Alison from Just Add Confetti again. Alison is incredibly creative and simply put: “get’s me”. I am always impressed that she will nail the brief each and every time. On this occasion Alison created mini signs for the tables, stickers for the silver cups, water bottle labels, and the name labels for the gift bags. We used the printable stationery to decorate the main food table aswell.

As I am sure you would agree, entertainment is an essential element of every party. I assisted Clare with booking the Snow Sisters, Anna and Elsa from Unreal Kids Parties. The Snow Sisters took the little ones on a magical experience around the Kingdom of Arendelle. The little party guests were delighted with all the fun games, songs, prizes and activities, and the parents were pretty pleased too!

31__MyLittleParty_Sept17Food plays the staring role at any party, and is very important for beautiful little princesses. Our resident Chef, Tony Craven created the following menu for the little party guests:

  • blue jelly ice cubes
  • iced cupcakes
  • Kristoff’s ham & cheese tarts
  • marshmallow wands
  • princess finger sandwiches
  • snowflake cookies
  • Sven brownies
  • white chocolate fudge snow blocks

And the grown-ups didn’t miss out on Tony’s delicious catering, as he designed a menu especially for them:

  • cauliflower & quinoa bites
  • chicken & cucumber finger sandwiches
  • chocolate brownie with strawberries
  • cranberry & lime scones with lemon butter and cream
  • hummus & baba ganoush with crudities

I assisted Clare with some birthday cake inspiration, and organised for Lisa from Cakes to Celebrate by Lisa to create the incredible ice princess masterpiece. The birthday cake was a deliciously moist chocolate cake with vanilla cupcakes to compliment.

There is nothing more important to us than long lasting memories from your my little party event. Angela Higgins is an incredibly talented photographer who captured this little party so well.

We were delighted that so many little party guests could join in a day of SNOW much fun to celebrate princess Pippa’s 3rd birthday! We created beautiful thank you gifts for the little party guests. We chose to decorate white paper bags, with a personalised name label, and finished off with some blue and white ribbon which made it a perfect take home treat. To make it a gift fit for a princess we included a white sequinned star wand, and a beautiful wrapped snowflake cookie created by Chef Tony.

If you thought these party details are worthy of a coronation for your favourite princess why not create a frozen-inspired party for your next little party! You are most welcome to use any of the “cool” party ideas that I hope have made your heart “melt”. Alternatively, I’d be delighted to do all the hard work for you! Hosting a child’s party is no mean feat, as any parent can confirm. There are so many things to organise. Wouldn’t it be great if you could get rid of at least some part of the mammoth task by outsourcing it? All it takes to get the party started is a phone call to me on 0424 728 798, or the click of the mouse to our contact page. I would love to create a joyful and memorable party for you and your little one!
