ahoy! it’s a boy!

Welcome aboard Matthew’s dedication day! We took advantage of the beautiful spring weather and held the celebration in November. We dedicated Matthew at our church in the morning and invited our friends and family for a nautical-inspired celebration at our home.

We had a bit of fun with it and splashed out by ordering chic, well-designed, customised invitations, that featured a gorgeous photo of Matthew.

We are thrilled with the party concept, and absolutely loved the relaxed beach side atmosphere the decor provided for the party. I used various shades of blue in the details, with white and pops of red. We also used anchors, life bouy and sailing boat props. I love nothing more than creating cute party decor! The fresh, clean and cheerful greeting of ‘Welcome Aboard’ placed at the entrance of the party went a long way in creating a lasting memory of our little party.

Entertainment is a must have for any little party. On this occasion we organised some good old fashioned games to entertain the little ones. Pass the parcel, musical chairs and duck, duck, goose were a hit with the little party guests.

The little sailors could knot resist navigating the summer-inspired appetizers. We had fun with the menu and created a healthy snack option, of summer berries in nautical treat cups. The little jelly boats definitely captured the attention of the little ones. Our resident Chef, Tony Craven also known as “Matthew’s Daddy” created this nautical-inspired menu:

  • anchor, life bouy and sailboat cookies
  • chicken and herb finger sandwiches
  • gruyere and tomato quiches
  • jelly boats
  • pork and fennel sausage rolls
  • prawn cocktail on melba toast
  • summer berry cups

We really enjoy creating a party gift that coordinates with the theme of the event. On this occasion we made three different cookies and wrapped them in cellophane. They were a hit with the little party guests and the grown-ups too.

If you are looking to hook in your little party guests with a stylish nautical celebration, know that you are most welcome to use any of the above ideas. Alternatively, I’d be delighted to do all the hard work for you. All it takes to get the party started is a phone call to me on 0424 728 798, or the click of the mouse to our contact page. I would love to create a joyful and memorable party experience for you and your little one! Anchors away!
