I started life with a heart full of dreams. Dreams of the future. Dreams of what I wanted to be, what I wanted to achieve, the places I would go, the wonderful people I would meet. And then fast forward to motherhood, and there I was standing in our tiny kitchen staring out the window, washing the dishes whilst waiting for the washing machine to finish it’s cycle. I thought to myself, is this it? Is this the essence of my life? How did I go from traveling around the world for work and pleasure to suddenly be in the burbs, doing monotonous chores. Huh?
It was then I started to dream. Dream for the future. It was throughout my journey of discovering the power of gratitude that I began to dream again. It started with meandering thoughts, and then it developed into words on a paper. I started to journal and record my hopes, desires and dreams.
I wanted more to life. I loved my husband and son dearly, and believed being at home was where I needed to be, but also knew that there was more within me to give. I felt all my creativity and organizational skills were wasted. Don’t get me wrong my wardrobe, and my sons toys were meticulously organized, but there was a yearning inside me to do more with my life. I thought a lot about the future. I dreamt, I wrote in journals, and I began to develop a vision of what I wanted my life to look like. I had a strong desire to use my gifts and talents to help others.
If this resonates with you, I encourage you to to start dreaming for your future. I promise you there is more to life than the dishes! It might seem silly in the beginning, or maybe even difficult. I hope you can carve out some time for you. Time to stop, and breathe. To take count of where you are and where you want to be. Try your very best to silence the inner critic, and develop your inner coach. Embrace your dreams for the future.
All my hopes, dreams and ideas come when I’m alone. I love to get outside, breathe in fresh air and walk, ideally along the coast, and start dreaming of the future. You can do this too. Maybe for you it is curling up cosily in bed or basking out in the sunshine. However it may look for you I encourage you to take time for you, to dream for the future and write. I promise you will be amazed at how you discover who you are by writing. You can get creative with it, and pull out your coloured pencils and paints. I am sure there is a cherished aspiration or ambition within you bursting to be released.
There is a quote that says: if you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. I believe this wholeheartedly. Once you have a vision of what you want to be, or what you want to do, you will soon discover your passion. I am a big believer in discovering your passion. Passion is what fuels everything. Passion is what motivates you. With passion comes a feeling of purpose. Passion shapes your purpose in life.
Suddenly you have gone from staring out the window aimlessly to having a dream. You are passionate about something. You have a purpose in life. It’s exciting! This is just the beginning!
